VISAA state championship competition is divided into divisions based on member school enrollment by gender. Divisions are set for a two-year cycle.
You can find the current division alignment by clicking here. This alignment will be in place from the Fall 2026 season through the Spring 2028 season and is based on a two-year average of enrollment reported in the fall of 2024 and 2025.
A member school may request to play in a higher division in certain sports, but they must commit to do so for the full two-year cycle-- if a school requests to play up in the second year of the two-year cycle, they must commit to do so for that year and the following full two-year cycle. A school requesting a division change due to significant enrollment decline must submit that request with supporting data to the Executive Director, who will evaluate the request according to the policy set by the Board of Directors. Any division adjustments will be added to the document linked above as the Board of Directors approves those requests.
PLEASE NOTE: This document includes all VISAA member schools and assigns them a division classification in all sponsored sports, regardless of whether that school participates in that sport. Sport-specific division alignments listing only participating schools will be available on each sport page after schools complete VISAA registration for that year.
